Virtex-7 Digital Receivers
PVP cards combine a multi-channel digital receiver with up to four FPGA processing elements, on a standard PCI Express® (PCIe®) card. When installed in a customer's host computer system, a PVP card provides a complete IF-to-DMA path for receiving wireless signals, processing them in an FPGA, and sending results to the host computer system via PCI Express. A PVP card has 1 to 4 input channels, which are routed to each field programmable gate array (FPGA) on the card.
Each FPGA is a high-end Virtex-7 XC7VX485T, manufactured by Xilinx, Inc. Using a simple application programming interface, users can access and process the sampled radio signals. Processed as well as raw data can be sent to the host using direct memory access. Each PVP card comes standard with a royalty-free software development kit containing all basic board support routines for the PVP card.
